Thomas Buck Reed
Thomas Buck Reed (May 7, 1787November 26, 1829) was a United States senator from Mississippi. Biography Early life Thomas Buck Reed was born on May 7, 1787 near Lexington, Kentucky. He attended the public schools and the College of New Jersey (now Princeton University.) He studied law and was admitted to the bar. Career He commenced legal practice in Lexington in 1808. In 1809, he moved to Natchez, Mississippi and served as a city clerk in 1811. He was an unsuccessful candidate for Delegate to Congress in 1813, and was attorney general of Mississippi from 1821 to 1826. His party affiliation was Jacksonian Democrats, Jacksonian. In 1825, he was elected to the Mississippi House of Representatives but declined to take his seat; he was elected to the U.S. Senate to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of David Holmes (politician), David Holmes and served from January 28, 1826, to March 3, 1827. Thomas Reed (British Army Officer)
General Sir Thomas Reed, (1796 – 24 July 1883) was a British Army officer and the 20th General Officer Commanding, Ceylon. He was born in Dublin, the son of Thomas Reed of Dublin, by Eliza, daughter of Colonel Sir F. J. Buchanan. He entered the army as a cornet in the 12th Light Dragoons in 1813, was promoted lieutenant in 1815, and was with the regiment at the Battle of Waterloo. In 1834 he was made lieutenant-colonel of the 62nd Foot, a position he held for eighteen years. He was made brevet-colonel in 1841 and the following year aide-de-camp to the queen. Two years afterwards he was made a Companion of the Order of the Bath, CB During the First Sikh War his regiment formed part of the force which held Ferozepore under Sir John Hunter Littler. Thomas Brackett Reed
Thomas Brackett Reed (October 18, 1839 – December 7, 1902) was an American politician from the state of Maine. A member of the Republican Party, he was elected to the United States House of Representatives 12 times, first in 1876, and served as Speaker of the House, from 1889 to 1891 and again from 1895 to 1899. Occasionally ridiculed as "Czar Reed", he had great influence over the agenda and operations of the House, more so than any previous speaker. He increased the Speaker's power by instituting the " Reed Rules," which limited the ability of the minority party to prevent the establishment of a quorum. Reed helped pass the Lodge Bill, which sought to protect African American voting rights in the Southern United States, but the bill failed to pass in the Senate and never became law. Thomas Willard Reed II (born November 18, 1971) is an American lobbyist, attorney, and politician from the state of New York. Reed served as the U.S. representative for ; the district is in New York's Southern Tier. A Republican, Reed first joined the U.S. House after winning a special election to replace Eric Massa in 2010. He previously served one term as mayor of Corning, New York. In 2021, after being accused of sexual misconduct, Reed announced that he would not seek reelection to the House of Representatives, or seek any other office in 2022. Thomas German Reed
Thomas German Reed (27 June 1817 – 21 March 1888), known after 1844 as simply German Reed was an English composer, musical director, actor, singer and theatrical manager of the Victorian era. He was best known for creating the German Reed Entertainments, together with his actress wife, a genre of musical plays that made theatre-going respectable at a time when the stage was considered disreputable. While acting as organist and chapel-master at chapels in London, and also as musical director and performer at West End theatres in the 1830s and 1840s, Reed tried his hand at producing opera. He married Priscilla Horton, a noted singer, actress and dancer, in 1844. By 1851, he was managing opera productions at various theatres in London and on tour. Thomas Reed (1817–1878), was a Danish people, Danish architect born in the 19th century in the Saint Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, Saint Croix Island (in the time when it was a dependent territory of the Kingdom of Denmark). He studied in Germany and England, and arrived to Colombia in 1847. In Bogotá he was contracted to build the Capitolio Nacional, Colombian National Capitol by the president Tomás Cipriano de Mosquera. He also designed the Panopticon prison which was adapted in 1975 for the Colombian National Museum. Later he travelled to Ecuador and became the government architect under the presidency of Gabriel García Moreno. In this work he built the house of García Moreno, the Prison García Moreno and some bridges. He also planned the reconstruction of the town of Babahoyo, destroyed by several fires. Tom Reed (January 7, 1945 – September 26, 2022) was an American college football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at Miami University from 1978 to 1982 and at North Carolina State University from 1983 to 1985, compiling a career head coaching record of 43–43–2. Thomas David Reed (born 29 January 1986) is a British judoka. Judo career He began his training at Devizes judo club before joining Team Bath's High-Performance Training Programme in 2003, aged 16. In 2006, following a gap year, in which he trained at Tokai University in Japan, he began a degree in Business Administration at the University of Bath. The same year, coached by Jurgan Klinger, he won bronze in the European under 23 Judo Championships in Moscow. He followed this up in 2007 with a silver at the European under 23 Judo Championships in Salzburg and became champion of Great Britain, winning the half-middleweight division at the British Judo Championships.
